  • The RRHA has been working to reduce flooding for over 10 years. We have raised private funds for USGS Gauge at the dam that included 1 year maintenance.     This is the gauge that the RRHA had installed and initially funded. It seems that we could not get the gauge funded for an extended time. This is a very important gauge to the to regulate the dam. It is the only gauge that tells us if ComEd is running the dam to spec. without this gauge that was paid for by donations to RRHA their response was always that the water levels were always perfect levels according to them and no adjustment was needed.     Repairs on our Dam starting soon!

    Sheriff just called and the river is going back to closed to recreational boating. However if someone needs to take their boat to a boat ramp at no-wake level they are still legal. About available boat ramps. River keys Riverview Ice House South ramp only. North ramp is Chained and the old Coast Guard building just north of Auburn Street on the east side.     The DNR has closed the river to all boat traffic. Please do not operate your boats at this time. The sheriff has fully opened three gates and the dam is at 87% drain capacity.

    Labor Day Update

    The dam was closed late last night due to extremely low water just north of the dam. Boats that were downtown were starting to hit the bottom of the river. An additional 2-3 inches of ran fell overnight and at this point, the dam isnt going to help much. The sheriff, Gary Caruana, has been extremely helpful in managing the dam over the last few days.     Labor Day Weekend Rains

    Heavy Rains this weekend have risen the level of the river to 8.4 feet at Latham.  This places us in a no-wake until it drops below 8 ft.  Please do not produce a wake and keep our river properties from damage.
